What Is Intarsia?
Intarsia is the making of decorative pictures using pieces of various natural woods. Artwork is mounted on a solid or plywood backing. Through the centuries craftsmen have created beautiful works of art from wood. Intarsia is seen in the history of ancient Egypt, Persia and Imperial Rome.
Each creation consists of hand selected, domstic and exotic woods, chosen for both their color and grain pattern.
Working from a design or pattern. Each piece of wood is carefully cut, then hand shaped and fitted together.
No stain is used, all colors are achieved using various species of wood.
